👀 A Recruiter’s Gaze
LinkedIn, and also other websites, are filled with recruiters and headhunters looking for great professionals.
And despite the lack of job openings, there’s also a shortage of qualified candidates. Quite the paradox.
To understand how recruiters operate, let me reference an Anime. Chances are, you’ll appreciate it—there’s a strong correlation between tech and nerd culture, after all.
I like to connect professional life with unexpected references. Metaphors help us understand things better—especially when we have fun in the process!
(warn me if I ever go too deep)
In Death Note, characters can make a pact with Shinigamis, gods of the other world. In exchange, they receive Shinigami Eyes 👁️, which allow them to see the exact date when someone… well, moves on to the next plane.
📌 What if I told you recruiters and headhunters also have special eyes?

these are recruiters in my mind. Seriously.
But instead of seeing expiration dates, they see things like:
🔹 Will I have to fire this person? If so, when and why?
🔹 Is their expected salary above or below market value?
🔹 Do they struggle to find jobs? If yes, why?
🔹 Are they good at teamwork?
They don’t need magic, although I suspect some recruiters are pure evil and might indeed have pacts with otherworldly figures.
The answers are out there, easy to find:
📌 Your profile picture.
📌 Your bio.
📌 Your work history.
📌 The posts you like and comment on.
📌 All your other Social Media accounts.
📌 Your Blog. Ops.

Creepy? 😬 Almost as much as the Anime.
Now, let me tell you a little secret: I have recruiter eyes too.
After all, my job is to prepare people for the market. And part of that is analyzing them.
🛠️ When I mentor someone, I do a full profile audit.
🔹 First goal: make sure everything is in English. Some people want an international job but keep their profile in Portuguese! 😅
🔹 Next, SEO: optimizing their bio and keywords to improve visibility.
🔹 And finally… Eye vs. Eye.
How do you develop your own Shinigami Eyes to see…
Wait, let’s play a game:
Why do you think recruiters don’t share my posts? 🫣

Try your best to answer without scrolling. Chat-GPT is allowed.

I am a Shinigami Hunter. 🥷
I teach people how to avoid bad jobs. I teach people how to get better jobs.
Recruiters know that, and they are scared of me more than anything in the world, except, of course…
Losing their jobs. After all, recruiters are human too. They are immersed in the “same” demanding job market. They probably also deserve all the compassion you can give.

But if it’s you versus them?
I prefer your side. Always root for the small guy.
