Ops. I have a Language Course now

The term Masterclass appeals more to Search Engines. Anybody who puts “Master” in a product and does not laugh about that should, honestly, I don’t know.

Much like Derek Sivers in Anything you Want, I work to serve people.

I find something I need, then when I am done creating that, I find other people that need that too.

And much like he accidentally founded CD Baby with this exact mentality, I accidentally created a Short, 16-minute Language Course Targeted at Preparing to Learn a Language.

Wait, this already looks like a Marketing Hook. Back to the story.

How it was created

Mentoring is something I have done my entire career, but I jumped aboard it full-time in 2024.

I started giving English Lessons to some friends, helped two programmers with an Interview Preparation for Global Careers, one of them who messaged me on Linkedin, and quickly expanded into a full-blown Career and Life Mentoring offering.

But getting people’s attention nowadays is hard, even when they need you. The irony of the internet.

To solve that problem, I took a Marketing Mentoring targeted at acquiring new students and mentees, and geared at selling courses in the future.

Technically, I still have one session, but I will probably just complain about how Instagram is absolutely ridiculous, how people on Linkedin don’t know how to find a job nor create bios, etc.

They suggested that I create a Preparatory Class – something I could send my students so they could benefit without me having to repeat the whole…

I bought software to edit videos. CapsCut Free Online version died on me mid-edit – and requested me to pay to add automatic subtitles. I moved to Movavi, since their support was excellent and they even forgave the fact I was absolutely furious in the chat. Seriously.

I started trimming the video, creating subtitles, making the video more compelling, more clear with texts, and even added some transitions. The whole project took me roughly three or four hours to complete, plus mental effort and shower ideas 🚿

However, when I was done, I rewatched everything and had an interesting epiphany:

“This is too good to be given for ‘free’.”

I mean. I eventually will probably make it available for free. In fact, everything I said in the video is online, scattered; you just need to stalk me and see my Youtube Research Playlists.
